Today I watched an amazing foster mom show kindness and grace and LOVE to a few precious little ones in her care. I wasn’t sure if they were foster babies at first but I had a gut feeling that they might be. Once the mother walked away with her children one of her older (Jr. High age) children stayed behind to pack his bag and before he left I asked if the kiddos were foster babies? He said, yes ma’am. I told him to tell his mom thank you for me. I told him that I too was a foster baby many times in my life and many people cared for me throughout my journey. I told him to tell her that I know it is very hard work but I deeply appreciate what she is doing. He assured me that he would tell her and then he walked away.
A few moments later she walked in and came up to me with tears in her eyes and hugged me. I began to cry as well because I could feel her motherly love pouring over me. She thanked me and told me that she had prayed a prayer to the Lord today for encouragement on this journey. I am so thankful that the Lord used me to speak life over her. Also, I am thankful that I decided to say something rather than sit quietly and wonder.
I made a new friend today. One who is making a difference in the lives of children. Thank you, Lord, for the people who step up and accept the challenge of caring for the least of these during their times of struggle. I pray for these little ones during these significant developmental moments. I pray healing and restoration and peace in Jesus name.
